5 Reasons Why 99% of All Internet Marketers Fail

5 mistakes 99% of internet marketers makeThere is always a lot of enthusiasm among those who get into internet marketing.

I know from my personal experience that when I first began, I was very excited and applied myself fully in the business. But as the initial emotions wore off and the reality of what it truly takes to succeed became my realization, there were many times that I wanted to quit. In fact there were periods when I did.

I wanted to write this because I communicate with a lot of people who are new to this business and experience the same excitement and enthusiasm when they start.

And even though there is nothing wrong with feeling this way (it’s actually a great thing), an unfortunate taste of reality is that out of all the people who get into this business, 99% will fail and there are really 5 main reasons for this. If you can avoid them, you can become the 1%.

1) The get rich quick mentality.

This may be the leading reason people fail. Don’t ever let this mindset get the best of you. I’ve had it happen to me more than one time and it’s never yielded positive results. Some associate this mentality with a condition known as shiny object syndrome. Are you guilty of falling for shiny object syndrome?

2) People want fast income results.

This is very much linked with the get rich quick factor, but in general, when it comes to life, most people want fast results. Whether it’s this, weight loss, or anything else in this life, we want that instant gratification.

Ironically however, life tends to provide the opposite results. People who try to lose weight fast end up getting it all back. Those who try to cheat their way through things end up failing sooner or later.

Although you can certainly find exceptions to any case, in most situations, wanting fast results usually means getting the opposite. With online marketing, those who get into the business do so because they assume results will be quick and when that doesn’t happen, they quit.

I see it again and again. People get into a program which teaches them that it takes time to make money online and once they don’t see the desired results in the desired time, they just flat out quit and unfortunately many of these people end up going for the get rich quick scams.

Understand that if you’re going to make money in this business, it takes time. How much time? It depends on several factors:

What subject you’re interested in promoting through the online marketing world. More specifically, your niche. Some are more competitive than others, meaning there could/could not be a lot of other people trying to succeed alongside/against you. Typically results within the online marketing world take months to achieve.

How good your content is. This is a big one. People tend to find a niche, build a website out of it, start adding and selling things without actually making their site worthwhile to read.

In this business, you are NOT trying to build  store to sell to people. You are trying to help them solve their problems through your website. This gains trust and then leads to sales. In short: To sell more, stop trying to actually sell.

Let me ask you this:

Take 2 websites, one with great helpful content and one which just tries to sell things to you and ask yourself, which site you’d trust more. I think we both know the answer.

3) They fall for scams.

scams

This is a product of the get rich quick mentality. As many scams as there are in the world of online marketing, many of them are unfortunately successful in the sale’s department because they give people the impression that it’s easy and quick to make money in this business.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Use your rational thinking when you’re scouting for ways to succeed online. Do your research and don’t let those “get rich quick” emotions get the best of you!

I’m getting close to the 100 review mark of products that I’ve checked out to see if they work or not in helping you earn money online. Out of them, there’s less than 10 which I found legitimate. The rest are either scams or not recommended.

One commonality between the ones which I advise against is that they always use the same tactics to get you to buy and that is the get rich quick hype as well as never actually explaining what it is you’re buying, but rather showing off how much money they are making and doing everything possible you to prevent skepticism.

The people behind these programs sound like politicians: They make massive promises and then they don’t deliver.

4) They are always looking for the “newest things”.

This doesn’t necessarily apply to beginners, but I often see internet marketing forums where there’s tons of people, both new and experienced constantly talking about what’s new and what works. And there’s many people who I feel know better that are still looking for that “next best thing”.

It’s like a fad and they come and go. Rarely if ever do fads ever last long or work. The same analogy exists with online marketing. You need to find 1 thing that works and use it. There’s nothing wrong with experimenting, but don’t let yourself get caught in the endless cycle of chasing the next best thing. Otherwise, you’ll never get anything done.

5) Lack of proper guidance.

Succeeding in online marketing requires an approach that is proven to work and in order to get it, you need to find a place thatproper guidance teaches it, aka proper guidance. There’s just far too many sources nowadays that preach it, but are completely out of date.

Though proper guidance is hard to come by, it does exist. Out of all the programs I’ve review, I recommend Wealthy Affiliate.

Always have and will likely always will because they are as up to date on everything as can be. As I said previously, find one route that works and use it. I personally use this place for proper guidance and have yet to find a better place.

To summarize, if you’re going to succeed in this business and not be the 99% that fail, you have to combine both the will to succeed and proper guidance. You need to commit to this business and understand that it takes time to see results. If you can do this, you’ll be very happy with your results 🙂
