10 Legitimate Work From Home Sites That Can Make You Money!

It is generally very hard to find work from home companies that offer 2 things: Legitimacy and good pay.

Today I’ll give you 10 options have both those things. Back when I got involved with the internet marketing world, it was next to impossible to do this.

However because the internet grew so much in the last 2 decades and much of what we do in the offline world is now outsourced online (ordering food, deliveries, eBooks, ect…), many big and legitimate companies have sprouted and taken their business to the internet. This has proved to be a smart investment as they have grown and scaled.

But with this growth, these same companies now require more people to do work for them in order to run these online operations.

What does this mean?

It means that if you know the right places to visit and have the right skill set, you can get paid by these places and in this article, we are going to explore 10 different places that will pay you a GOOD buck to do honest work.

These 10 work from sites I’ll show you are legitimate, so let me show you what they are.

10 legitimate work at home companies

Quick note 1 about some of these work from home sites:

Depending on the site/s you’ll see below, some will require you have one type of skill set. In other words, not every single place on the list may suite you, but the good news is that it’s very diverse so odds are no matter what your skill set is, you’ll find at least one or more of the companies displayed below that’ll fit your needs.

Quick note 2: Very important for readers:

If you have ANY questions regarding these companies or are confused and maybe have a situation where you’re not sure if the following companies below suite you, please let me know.

Tell me about your occupation, what you’re seeking to do, what you’re good at, anything to help me, help you figure out a great way to work from home. I’ve been helping with this question for years so I know about this a lot.

Quick note 3: Which company I personally use out of these 10:

While the other 9 are completely legitimate, I use the last one, Wealthy Affiliate.

It is an awesome website where people build internet businesses. Owning your own site which gets daily customers and sales is a very freelance and convenient way to earn a living.

I can travel and work from anywhere and my schedule ends up being very flexible. Not all of the companies below can do that, but for me personally, #1 is most suitable. If you’re the type who wants to make their own business, you’ll really want to check out #1:

10 work from home sites my top choice

But as promised, here are all 10, each holding their own prestige, but at the same time, all of them are legitimate. Let me know which one you like the most below!

10) Fiverr.

fiverr work from home opportunity

Description:

A website that hires just about anyone who has ANY type of skill set related to online services: Content writing, SEO, website design, graphic design, giving out testimonials and much more.

How to know if Fiverr is for you:

If you have one or more of the skills I just mentioned, you can sign up with Fiverr and charge for what’s known as “gigs” which is another word they use for service/s. You can charge $5 or more per service and get paid through the site whenever a new clients hires you for a gig.

The appeal of Fiverr is that it is a very popular site where many business owners and website creators go to outsource certain type/s of work. How popular is this place? Check this out:

However, one thing I particularly do not like about this site is that I wasn’t kidding when I said they hire just about anybody to do work. This can often lead to poor, cheap quality services being done that can hurt the client’s business and it is one of the reasons I’ve personally never used it.

How Fiverr can help you work from home:

But if you can offer great quality work, you can utilize the popularity of this place to get yourself clients/leads and money rather quickly. Clients also review your services on this site so a better rating leads to more business for you.

Maybe you’re a talented graphic designer. Maybe you’re good at internet marketing, but just don’t do it on your own. Whatever the case is, if you’re good at it and Fiverr’s demand pool is perfect for it, you can make money through it.

There are people on Fiverr who make a good side income with getting gigs and the more positive reviews they for popular services and completions of them, the more gigs they’ll get in the process.

9) Amazon Mechanical Turk.

Description:

Mechanical Turk is a branch of the Amazon program itself where people go to outsource pretty much anything they need to be done, generally for websites. It is honestly something I only found out about last year but it is pretty popular:

working from home with amazon mechanical turk

How to know if it’s for you:

If you’re good at following directions someone gives you to do on a website, you should be fine for this.

How Amazon Mechanical Turk can help you work from home:

Usually the opportunity is that someone will go to that site and request that people working on Mechanical Turk will do a favor for their page by doing things like visiting it, leaving a comment, checking to see if something on the site works and so on. And this can all be done from home.

It is a pretty straight forward gig and there’s constantly new ones available for people to check out and make money off. Although the pay is quite small, the gigs are generally also very short, so you can:

Do a lot of them and make a decent amount overtime.

Usually gigs that are easy to do and pay little fill up fast, but new ones come up all the time so it’s important to keep an eye out for them and to choose the ones which pay a fair amount for doing a simple task.

This can for some people become a frustrating task at first, but people have been doing well on it. Maybe not full income well, but enough to make something.

8) Amazon Flex.

Description:

Deliver orders for people who are members of Amazon prime, and do it fast. That’s what Amazon Flex is.

Amazon prime is an added feature of Amazon where people who pay $99 a year or about $11/month can get free shipping off certain orders that go over a certain amount and/or special access to the site to watch videos and other things. It pays (well saves really) to be an Amazon Prime member if you’re on there often and order things often.

How to know if it’s for you:

If you have a car, are good at knowing your local area/s and can make quick deliveries, you can do this job and be part of one of the most known programs in the world, Amazon.

How Amazon Flex can help you work from home:

Now one of the cool things is that Prime members also get pretty quick deliveries and one of the ways they do is through people who work for Amazon Flex. You can get paid over $20/hour for some deliveries and this isn’t exactly a job you do from home, but it’s not traditional either.

7) Task Rabbit.

Description:

Ever buy a piece of furniture and have problems assembling it? Ever try to go through expensive places that will do that for you, but they require that you either come over and/or pay a lot? And in another list of great work at home opportunities I did in 2019, Task Rabbit had to mentioned again!

Enter Task Rabbit, a place where people who are good at assembling/building furniture, fixing common home issues (handyman stuff) and more come over to your place and do the job for a negotiated price.

How Task Rabbit can help you work from “home”:

If you’re not a tech person and are much better with your hands, this job can really work well for you. Just drive to the persons place nearby, complete the job and get paid through Task Rabbit. It’s still a fairly new site, but for the work done, you can get paid pretty well.

It’s not exactly a work from home job, but it is a great option on this list of sites.

Side note: A word about the one company I personally use and trust (Wealthy Affiliate):

6: eHow.com.

making money from home with ehow

Description:

It’s a site where you get paid to write how to articles.

I was actually once “approached” by someone from there who offered me a job to write for them.

I turned it down because at the time, I was (and still am) writing for my own online business so I couldn’t take the time away, but eHow.com is a big site and it’s still a great opportunity.

So if you enjoy writing, you can try this or the other sites on this list I’ll mention shortly.

How eHow.com can help you work from home:

If you have decent writing skills and know at least one subject for which a how to can be written up on, you can try to use this site to make extra money, and of course it can be from your home.

5 and 4: iWriter.com and Freelancer.com.

Description:

Similar to eHow.com, but here you can theoretically get paid more if you land a good client. Generally people who write well put up their resume on these 2 sites (there’s actually more than these 2, but they are the better ones) and get hired by website owners in need of someone to write content for them.

Now as a writer, it can be hard to land a gig because there’s SO MANY people looking to do this type of work, but if you write well and can land 1 client or more, you can make a decent supplementary income. Some people I’ve known have done this full time. Here’s tips on landing great paying clients if you’re into freelance writing.

How iWriter and Freelancer.com can help you work from home:

The work you do for these 2 sites can be from home. I think anyone who writes well or blogs can benefit from these 2 sites. People who go to college and are in need of extra money will also benefit from this type of online work. You will write an agreed upon article with an X amount of words on an X topic. If it’s accepted, you get paid what was agreed upon. Getting paid from $5-$100 per article is not uncommon if you’re good enough.

Update: I will also add another site that relates to iWriter and Freelancer and that is TextBroker. If you write well, you can get hired pretty quickly and make some decent side cash by becoming a writer there.

3) Udemy.com

Description:

A fantastic site where if you possess ANY sort of knowledge in ANY field, you can create a “course” on it, charge for it and get people within the Udemy community to sign up for it.

Now Udemy gets about 200,000 searches on Google monthly and it probably has that many members if not more. And people love to learn from this site so you can literally look up any topic and sign up for an corresponding courses offered for it.

Here is an example of an instructor on Udemy who made a course on MBA topics. At $15 per person, he signed up well over 80,000 people which by my math is over a million dollars made (minus fees, expenses by the Udemy site likely), but it’s still a crazy income:

how udemy helps you work from home

How Udemy can help you work from home:

If you have experience in a popular field and can create an organized, high quality course out of it, Udemy just may be the opportunity you seek to work from home full time with the amount of people it can get to sign up for that course.

2) Lynda.com:

lynda.com work from home opportunity

Description:

Similar to Udemy, but not as popular. Lynda.com offers similar opportunities as Udemy. More information on Lynda.com.

How Lynda.com can help you work from home:

Same one was with Udemy. There is also one called Skillshare, which is also legitimate and worth considering as well.

1) Wealthy Affiliate.

Description:

My personal preference. It is an online business “university” that provides users with training on starting their own online business based on an interest or hobby they like.

Users learn to build their own websites, get traffic and build a fully run and full time business from home.

Note: And membership is free as well.

How Wealthy Affiliate can help you work from home:

This company doesn’t really give you a job, but it teaches you to create your own business and that becomes it’s own work at home opportunity, which I’ve personally used for years. Here is my personal Wealthy Affiliate review and here are success stories of Wealthy Affiliate members.

Honestly, even if you are perfect for one or all of the opportunities above and/or you are experienced in a hobby/niche that many people are also interested in, I strongly recommend trying Wealthy Affiliate to learn how to make a business out of this interest.

I’ve actually used that program to make a number of websites in various topics I have knowledge in. I can defiantly tell you this: If you know anything that is of value (perhaps you know how to get into shape or even something as unusual as being good at video games), you can absolutely do something with this knowledge and earn money from it from with the help and training you get from this program.

Say we take a few of the above examples and some others…

Perhaps you know a lot about web design. WA can teach you to find clients in your local area to do some good work for them and for good prices.

Perhaps you are a good handyman. You can create a website where you also teach people to become handymen and sell them products without having to do the hard labor yourself.

Perhaps you are a dog owner and know how to take care of it well, so you can start a dog caring website and give other dog owners tips on keeping their pets healthy.

The point is, ANY sort of topic you have experience on can turn into an online business with the help of Wealthy Affiliate.

And with the online business model they teach, your clients are in limitless amounts since you are marketing to the world, whereas if you were doing it through something like Udemy, you would be able to get clients, but in a more limited amount since it would be in an enclosed network.

My final thoughts:

Most of these work at home companies and the people looking for them have the following that make both groups perfect for each other:

  • The work at home company needs to have honest work done to build their business.
  • The person looking to do an honest job needs to find an honest company.

Hence if you look at these 10 places, with the exception of #10 since you’ll build your own business here, you can really make some good money doing this.

  1. Great content man, thanks a lot for sharing. So many networks here I never heard of before. You are totally right about these networks and I have been thinking of actually getting my own courses ready and publishing them on Udemy as well as offering my services on Fiverr.

And I’m using Wealthy Affiliate myself man, high freaking five! Definitely an awesome site and network of people.

Also, what are your thoughts on Skillshare? It’s similar to Udemy, but has a few differences, like need for a monthly subscription, etc… have you tried it before?

    Reply
    • As it happens, I have reviewed Skillshare Ivan. I think Udemy is superior and one reason is that Skillshare redistributes it’s profits among it’s teachers, a model which I think would pay it’s teachers less and over reward those who do not provide enough value, so in that sense, Udemy is better, but I DO like Skillshare in general.

  2. Wow this is interesting! I never thought about making money these ways. I’ll probably try Udemy, seems like the biggest chance of a big payday. Also eHow seems like a good choice just because I don’t know anyone who hasn’t at least heard of them. I wish you were able to give estimated average income rates

    Reply
    • With freelance gigs, you can’t really estimate income. You can find examples and ranges of income for the most successful people, to the average amount earned for sure, but these options and the amount you make will be determined by how many gigs you get, how many articles you write and/or (in Udemy’s case), the sort of course you put out and how many people buy it.

  3. This post is very well done. I didn’t even know about Amazon Mechanical & Flex. I only thought Amazon had their Amazon Associates. I am going to look into both of these programs.

Thanks for this amazing and in depth content. It flows very well and I am glad I came across it.

    Reply
    • Amazon associates is another “wing” of opportunity from Amazon itself Alexander and I didn’t use it because it’s more of a freelance, commission based work, whereas the others offer a more stable income. The associates program allows you to promote any Amazon product for a commission, but the negative aspect is that you ONLY get paid when you make the sale.

I actually do work with Amazon through it’s associates program but only because I understand how to do promote their products.

  4. These are good choices for start working online and I agree with you that the best work is the one that that you do for yourself. I didn’t know that Amazon had so many job opportunities, it really is a big business and makes sense that it needs many people to fulfill all the things that they offer. Thanks for the info.

  5. It’s awesome to see how more and more viable it is to work on the internet full time! Personally I also use Wealthy Affiliate. It’s awesome for writers who aren’t super tech savvy as it allows me to focus on what I love which is writing content and I get tons of help with the technical stuff that I don’t like.

That being said I have not heard of iWriter and Freelancer. As I said I love writing so I think those would be good for me to look at. Do you have any other recommendations for places to put my resume up to write for others?

    Reply
    • Hi Rob, those 2 freelance sites are great to start with. Being that you are a part of WA, you already have an advantage in being more attractive to the people who will hire you to write because you will be able to relay to them how much you know about writing up content that gets visitors and sales.

Leading into that is the answer to your question about how to approach the people/companies hiring writers. Seek out the ones on the sites I mentioned who are in need of content producers in subjects you know a lot about. Give the some of your articles and use that as your resume.

Provide stats on the article about how it managed to get so and so traffic visits and sales (if there were any). This will work better because people who seek online writers, whether they know it or not really need those who can write and know SEO. Most people who can write unfortunately do NOT know SEO which is why I said being in Wealthy Affiliate has given you an advantage, since they teach that.

  6. It never fails to amaze me the new ways of making money. Task Rabbit is definitely a new one on me and sounds pretty cool. I have used Fiverr for outsourcing work and it’s been good. I haven’t tried making money with that one. A site that worked really well for me as a writer was Upwork. I also love Wealthy Affiliate because it has an awesome training program.

  7. Hi Vitaliy,

Thanks for the great list of work from home companies. I haven’t tried many of those on the list like Fiverr but have tried freelancer and man the competition in there is crazy which often means you end up selling your services for a lot less than you want.

I have now joined Wealthy Affiliate and have found that it is provides all the tools and education you need to be successful in almost any field – you can start a website on being a writer, know how to get customers and make sales from there. Much better than trying to bid with others on a marketing place!

    Reply
    • Hi SJ, thanks. Yes, freelance sites CAN indeed be competitive, but if you are a high quality writer, you can find gigs and get paid well. My suggestion would be to find people on freelancer who seek a particular expert in a specified field.

For example: If you see that a person/company is seeking to find a writer to create articles on weight loss and you know a lot about this, let them know your experience and that you can provide them with high quality content. Believe me, there is a DIRE need in this industry to find quality writers and if you have knowledge in specified fields and find that the people hiring need articles in the fields you know a lot about, it’s almost a guarantee you’ll get the gig and make good money.

As for WA, yeah I agree, I prefer the skills you have as a writer be used to grow your own business, not someone else’s.

  8. Hi, Vitaliy..I’m interested in the Amazon Flex program it looks pretty good, is it offered in Canada? Also, Lynda would probably be a good bet, as an alternative to Udemy.

I am also a member of Wealthy Affiliate, it’s amazing how many WA members are out here and successful. Thanks for all the info.

    • Hi EJ, there was an article I read last year which said Amazon Flex was going to start offering positions in Canada, so I think it should be available right now, to be sure, check the main program and see if there is a country selection available, if not, then it’s still only available to U.S residents.

  9. This is something I’ve needed for a long time. I definitely have always had the entrepreneur mindset and wanted to make money just being at home. This article provided me with just what I needed for that. Which method do you personally think is the best one to start with? Especially with a low startup capitol

    • Well you said you’re an entrepreneur and are interested in something that requires little investment. The choice then would be Wealthy Affiliate.

  10. I learned so much from your site. Nice. I just started with WA a few weeks ago and I am so impressed with the amount of information, help, and training that is available. Unbelievable. I love it. For me, it has been frustrating but rewarding to see what I have been creating.
I have never tried or heard of the other sites. Which one would you recommend for someone that doesn’t have much experience with this kind of work? I am leaning towards checking out the website about teaching. I could teach about BBQ. Just thinking out load. Thanks for the information.

    Reply
    • Well I recommend WA because if anyone has a hobby or expertise, you can build your own business off that with their help. Other than that, the other choices would be suitable based on the individual’s experience.

For example, if you’re good at fixing and building things, perhaps Task Rabbit would be best.

If you’re good at writing, perhaps the freelance sites I mentioned and WA would be suitable.

If you’re good at making graphics, Fiverr would work too.

So as you can see, these sites have different advantages, but they all help the people best suited for them work from home or at least in a freelance fashion.

  11. Wow, these are all great and I had not heard of most of them. I also use Wealthy Affiliate which I love. I am curious about Amazon Flex though, and I am definitely going to check into this. Might be something worth doing as well. Amazon Mechanical Turk sounds interesting too. Simple enough to follow directions. Thanks for sharing! I am looking forward to checking some of these out. And yes, Wealthy Affiliate is the best!

  12. Vitaliy I would like to know how long it took for you to earn your first commission using Wealthy Affiliate.

I was suckered into trying another program that was poorly written and I kept getting messages to call my adviser, well I didn’t call but eventually they called me and tried to do an up-sell, they wanted me to get new credit cards and get an increase on the ones I already had.

Needless to say I searched for reviews on the company and found out about Wealthy Affiliate, so I tried the free portion but before I finished lesson 3 in Course 1 liked it so much that I upgraded to premium.

I am now on course 2 lesson 6 and can honestly say I am getting a lot of value for my membership, by the way I opted for the yearly membership.

    Reply
    • I started with WA a very long time ago and made my first commission in a few weeks, but the important thing was they showed me the ways to build a stable, growing business. That’s the most important thing.

And about your other experiences with the bad program, I know all about them and how they try to to scam you, as I regularly do my best to expose what they are to browsers like yourself. that’s one of the reasons I made the following list you see above.

But back to WA, I am glad to hear that you’re happy with them and you’re definitely in a good place with this company!

      Reply
  13. A great list you have here. I have heard a lot previously about Fiverr, but the low pay discouraged me from trying it because I value my time. I joined Wealthy Affiliate recently as well and I am busy building my business now. I feel there is no comparison between Wealthy Affiliate and the rest as it beats them hands down. Keep up the good work.

    • Hi Emmanuel, if you can offer a good, automated service on Fiverr that gets customers, you can make money quickly there. I am glad though that you like my top choice 🙂

  14. These are all great! Most of them I’ve heard about. I tried fiverr one time and didn’t know what I was doing so nothing much came from it.

Honestly I’ve tried most of these but WA has been by far the most useful. I thought that I would stay with the free portion of it but I loved it so much I went premium in a day!

Online business is the future so it’s good that people are coming out with reviews for the best ones!

  16. I have actually tried most of these already with varying degrees of success. I feel like sites like Fiverr and Mechanical Turk have a low return on investment, although I guess if you got lucky you could make some good money from them. The other sites are that you list are great though and I think they could be great sources of income.

The most recent on my long list of online business endeavors is WA, and so far it is the one I feel has the most potential income. Has this been your experience too?

    Reply
    • Fiverr can work well IF like I said you have an in demand service to offer people and you’re good at delivering it. Mechanical Turk is something MOST people can do, but it requires tenacity in catching the offers before others do, yet they work. The same goes for the other services.

And speaking on WA, yes it is the one which personally has given me the most freedom and income. You are literally making your business through them and as many know, a successful business is one of the most rewarding ways to earn a living.

  17. I just recently finished the Certification Courses at WA and I enjoyed every minute while also gaining a lot from it. I am currently building my website more, hoping to start earning consistent revenue from it to the point where I can make a living and have my own place.

I have been building it for a little over 2 months and I am going to continue working my way towards that and getting a consistent passive income.

As for the other sites, I have not really looked into them. Some of the other ones I might be interested in trying would be iWriter, Freelancer, and maybe Amazon Mechanical Turk.

Reason being is that I feel I have improved when it comes to writing stuff online so iWriter and Freelancer would be great for that. With Amazon Mechanical Turk, I already have experience with building a website on WA and using all of the tools there so I should be fine with following directions on websites.

    • Hi Arie, well done on being with WA for 2 months and working to make a great site. You are absolutely right, that the skills you learned from there, particularly on how to write content will pass into helping you become a much more valued, potential writer for the other sites I mentioned in this list.

Trust me when I say a good writer is in HIGH demand for these places and they pay well if you can show them you know what to write about and give them great content.

  18. All of these companies do provide a legit way to make some money that I agree with.

I’ve actually tried Amazon Mechanical Turk but it was too time consuming and it wasn’t for me,

Wealthy Affiliate on the other hand is for me because I can find a way to make actual decent money but you need to put in the work that’s how you know it`s not a scam!

    Reply
    • Yeah, all of these companies WILL require that you work Vlad and I like what you said in the end about that being a sign of legitimacy because it is absolutely true.

  19. It makes perfect sense, what you said about companies taking their businesses online is really interesting and I believe that move changed a lot of lives in these few last years as people finally had a REAL chance to experience working from home.

The companies you listed are great, well reviewed and renowned all over the web, which confirms that they’re totally legit.

However and from my personal experience, I can’t agree more with your recommendation.

Wealthy Affiliate is the ultimate business model, as with a bit of time and effort, one can reach the greatest dream of all, which is financial freedom!

The best part of it all is that it gives you a free access so you experience the environment and decide whether or not it suits you.

    Great article as always, Vitaliy!

  22. Thanks for this insight! I’ve heard of some of these companies before, but there were some that were brand new to me – which is exciting!

For most of the ‘writing’ gigs, do you have to write your content first and then just see if someone likes it? I’m talking about #’s 10,6,5,4,3,2. Are these companies that hire you out for specific tasks, or do you have to show a ‘portfolio’ of sorts to be hired?

If you wanted to write for a site like Freelancer or iWriter, is there much competition? Do you have any tips on how to get your stuff noticed?

Thanks for all these great leads!

    Reply
    • Hi, yes you will have to write for those sites and yes there are tips I recommend to get the gig, some being showing a “portfolio” of you having previous writing gigs and happy customers. Also seek out people hiring who want articles written on a subject you know a lot about, this can help both parties connect better and make the person hiring feel they are getting the most experienced person.

With the internet full of get rich quick ideas, it is good to see a legitimate place to get started, everyone knows Amazon and trusts them so building up a business as an affiliate is worth the time and effort, ebay is also worth considering, I never knew how much was involved in building an online business until I joined Wealthy Affiliate, best investment I have made, I have used fiverr services and was very happy with it, have not made much progress using it as a service, that will come in time, this is a good time to use the internet as a way of earning an income and many fall victim to scams of fast and great earnings, as with any business it needs time, investment and self believe, you give good insights into possible avenues.

    • Hi Katie, thank you for very much, specifically for Amazon, while you CAN work as an affiliate for them, what I mentioned was a little bit different in that you deliver for them, so it’s not actually affiliate related work.

With regards to Wealthy Affiliate, I am certain though that if you utilize their training, you won’t really need the other 9 options or whatever other legitimate options there are, BUT at the same time, their training can help you succeed further with the other options at the same time, it’ll just be your personal choice.

  24. This is a great article. I’ve been looking around for work that I can do online at home. I checked Fiverr out before and it is really popular. It’s actually not bad and I have gotten some jobs and they pay pretty good too.

I have a friend who uses Freelancer and writes very well and I know he does not too bad on income on it.

I actually still use Fiverr but I’ll definitely check out eHow because I’ve heard good things about them.

Thanks Vitaliy… I really enjoyed reading this and it’s very helpful.

  25. Nice article! I have to agree with you on your #1. I’ve tried Fiverr and unfortunately didn’t have much luck with it, but so far with Wealthy Affiliate I can tell I won’t regret it. The information I’ve learned in 2 weeks about online businesses, I feel like they can charge $100s of dollars elsewhere. I’ll definitely look into the others!

  26. You have given vivid options on making money online and I think this is very helpful for anyone who wants to transform their lives. Out of those 10 options, I have come to like affiliate marketing so much because it has proved to be the best investment towards financial freedom. I’m not sure how about the first nine options work but I hope they really do.

Almost year ago I enrolled in Wealthy Affiliate and so far I’m seeing a lot of changes in my life. I’ve learned so much from that time such that I can’t compare it with anything else. WA is the best forum for online business. It is loaded with all tools needed to attain this success.

    • Affiliate marketing is definitely the option which has the most freedom when you know how to succeed with it. While I do like the other options as well and I know some people will definitely like some of those more than my #1 choice, I still think what Wealthy Affiliate teaches you about actual marketing on the internet holds the greatest benefits, and that is something that I have first hand been able to do.

  27. Nice article, I mean anyone who is serious about working from home should really look into all these options. I have been using fiver and Amazon for years so I know they are good.

What about eBay? I think that should maybe be on your list as well because I’m pretty sure you can make some coins on there.

Also I love that you put WA at number 1. Sounds correct to me 🙂 thanks for sharing this!

    • Hi Marley, I didn’t put eBay because as far as I know, the main thing they offer is a service where people can sell their things and people really have built a business out of using them, but in terms of regular jobs, I didn’t include them because I don’t know if they offer it. Amazon on the other hand offers this opportunity.

  28. Very informative article. I’m a newbie at internet marketing and income. I had never hear of any of the first nine opportunities you reviewed. Some of them I’ll be sure to take a look at. I joined WA about a month ago and have been super busy publishing my own web site and writing content on about a daily basis.

However I’m an early riser 3:00AM and a workaholic and some of the other nine you reviewed might be a good fit with my efforts to make a living online. I’ve bookmarked this site so as to be able to carefully look those nine over as I find the time. Thanks for the great information.

    • Well WA in my experience will have the best income potential, and since you are focusing on it, I would only recommend one of the other 9 only in cases where you need a more immediate job.

  29. This is part of the dream, to find a way to make some passive income online. I hadn’t heard of most of these options but they sound pretty good overall. The only ones I had heard of were eHow, Lynda, and Wealthy Affiliate. I know they are all legit, but tell me how good has WA been for you?

    • I put up Wealthy Affiliate as #1 for a reason Kelly, it’s been remarkable for me. It gave me the opportunity to truly be financially independent and I know it can do the same to anyone who uses them. I mean I really do quite well there (here are details) and I am very happy with them. I’d also say that the knowledge I received from them would also help me succeed in the other 9 options, but by that point, I only would need WA itself.

  30. Vitaliy- Great article… most of these gigs I pretty much new about, however I had no clue about Amazon Flex and Amazon Mechanical Turk. I’ve always wondered how Amazon was able to keep their promise with quick delivers lol. I was also unaware that you can write for eHow and get paid. Great job! And thanks for sharing.

    • Yeah it makes sense that Amazon would offer these sorts of opportunities. However with eHow, they’ve personally approached me with an offer to work for them many years ago. Although my position was that it’s better to build your own brand and write for yourself.

  31. A very interesting blog post with lots of great tips. I had never heard of Amazon flex before. Fiverr is good as long as you check the reviews and go with someone who has a good rating. Like a top seller or level 2 seller rating.

If you get someone with little or no reviews on Fiverr you can sometimes find a few lousy writers. Done this a couple times in the past myself.

If you find some good suppliers Fiverr is also a great way to sell services, become the middleman and make yourself a healthy profit in the process.

I also use it to get free content using a little bit of imagination 🙂 which keeps more of my websites updated regularly and pays my monthly hosting bills.

Hope your weekend is a good one

    • Glad to hear about your experiences on Fiverr. Although overwhelmingly positive reviews there are good, people should still think carefully about hiring someone, such as a content writer. Cheap ones usually are not recommended if they get 5 stars.

However, on this article I just mentioned how someone can offer their own legitimate services and profit of them. I am curious if you can elaborate on the ways you profit from Fiverr.

  32. I agree with you on these companies being legitimate .However, half the companies on this list you are probably not going to be able to make enough real income to sustain yourself. Fiverr, Amazon Turk, TaskRabbit and a few others pay very little and you will end up working long hours just to make what you could get flipping burgers.

    • I would have to disagree and agree with parts of what you said Valerie. On the agree side, yes it is true that these things aren’t exactly big time career jobs where people make a full time income, BUT on the other side, they CAN be turned into that if the person immerses themselves enough in it.

With the Wealthy Affiliate option, I do quite well (see how well) but that took work for me to reach. The point is, any job if taken seriously enough can be made fun, lucrative and profitable.

I do also think that a lot of people would prefer these jobs as options vs something in the fast food industry for example.

  33. Hey great article. I was not aware of many of these online sources. I have been in the internet marketing industry a long time and didn’t realize that there were this many company’s providing “actual” work. You did a great job of researching this I see. It is also nice to see ways to earn online that don’t only involve selling or recruiting. Keep up the good work.

    • No problem Ralph, I still believe that out of all the options, owning your own business beats the rest, which is why I talked about Wealthy Affiliate and how it helps you get this done, but yeah, there’s people who absolutely would prefer doing more traditional type of work, which some of the other options absolutely do allow.

  34. Vitaliy,

Thanks for all the information, as for most of them they just wouldn’t suit my needs. Although I did find Amazon Flex an interesting concept with one issue, I have a disabled wife I need to take care of. Wealthy Affiliate would have to be my choice, I can pick my own niche, and I can work from wherever I want to. Also if anyone has priced a website and annual hosting cost you would be better off with Wealthy Affiliate and get the tools and training included in the cost. Thanks for sharing.

Lastly, I feel like Wealthy Affiliate should be #1 if the lowest number was considered the best. I mean, you can learn about all the other 9 from Wealthy Affiliate 😀

    Once again, great read!

Among the rest, Wealthy Affiliate is the best place to learn how to start and build a solid online business that can give you reliable source of income. The education provided at wealthy affiliate is awesome. You can not get it anywhere else.

  37. This is interesting stuff. I’m intrigued by the Udemy concept. It seems like it would be a good opportunity to leverage the information on my niche site about how to travel for free with credit card points, and turn it into an actual course. I’ll be checking this out for sure.

Question on Amazon Flex, does it just basically turn you into a courtier when both the buyer and the seller are located in your area? It doesn’t really make sense that Amazon would ship to a middle man to get the delivery there faster.

    Reply
    • Yeah I think that’s exactly how it works Dustin, otherwise it wouldn’t make sense. If there is a Flex worker in an area where a delivery needs to be made, plus there is a warehouse with the item in the same area, then it makes sense that only then will delivery person’s services will be required. It certainly makes sense to utilize this type of job in big cities as I’m sure the orders would be constant.

  38. Thanks a lot for this article Vitaliy. I’ve tried quite a few of these sites before, but not really been able to make any decent money from them. I found out about Wealthy Affiliates a couple of weeks ago and started going through their courses this week. So far I have been blown away by the quality and thoroughness of the training materials. I’ve almost learned as much this week as I did in months beforehand. Well worth it!

  39. Hey there,

I have tried fiverr, freelancer and Wealthy Affiliate. I started with freelancer then later heard about fiverr. While I was working on content for other people I wondered just how they can afford to pay me for writing for them….maybe if I was doing what they are doing then I could pay people to write for me! Lol.

So I started to research on how to earn money from owning a website. That is when I found Wealthy Affiliate! I love it there. I created my own website and now I write for myself. Now I feel like I am selling myself short if I write for another blog lol. But not everyone is prepared to put in the work so fiverr and freelancer will work for some.

    Great article!

    Keep up the good work

  44. Great post! I’ve been seeking out different ways to make extra money online and it’s frustrating jumping from site to site that barely provides the necessary pieces of information needed to make a calculated decision. I love how you broke each one down and gave us your honest, unbias opinion about them. I will try a couple that you mentioned on this list that fit my profile. Thank you, Vitaliy. Keep up the good work!

  45. The only one besides WA at this time that I have worked with among that list is the Iwriter, and I would no longer recommend it to internet marketers, because for the simple fact being that it will not help you be an entrepreneur. While it can help you build up writing skills I suppose you will almost be doing it for free for others.

    Reply
    • Interesting Andrew, you mentioned you wouldn’t recommend iWriter, BUT for internet marketers. Did you mean for website owners who need writers to produce their content?

And what about the free part, this is where I assume if you’re writing, the gig may be so cheap, it may as well be free because it’s tough to get writing gigs there? Just want to make sure I understood your points.

  47. Awesome list, Vitaliy!

The two that appeal to me immediately are Wealthy Affiliate (where I am currently a member), and Udemy. The reason Udemy jumps out for me personally is that one of my interest is mathematics. In fact, given the fact that there are a lot of people for whom math doesn’t “click,” my wife suggested I get into the business of tutoring. However, I was never sure how to go about that other than advertising on Craigslist or somewhere else. Perhaps a Udemy course would be a good idea.

Also, if I did want to get into some kind of niche involving mathematics, do you have any idea on how to springboard that interest into a niche website at Wealthy Affiliate?

Finally, I am an engineer by trade, and licensed engineers are required to get 15 professional development hours (PDH’s) of training per year. There are sites that offer courses, and people can earn some money designing courses for those sites as well, though those generally require a specialized knowledge. But there’s nothing like tapping into a market where the buyers are actually required by law to buy the product. 🙂

    • Hi Andy, it’s funny, as I was reading your comment initially, I was thinking about how great it would be for someone with your knowledge in math to offer tutoring through a niche site, and right after that you asked me about how to do just that.

Well what I would do is this:

Math itself is a very basic topic and as you know (better than I do) there are many forms of it: Geometry, calculus, ect…

Look at different types of mathematics topics that are typically common for teenagers-college level students. Also take a look at some popular math sites and see how what they’re doing for brainstorming purposes.

Choose a topic within math you are most familiar with and that fits in with that demographic and do a niche site which talks about handling the different types of problems you can find in that subject, offer videos with tutorials, help people prepare for exams, ect…

Then offer private tutoring through something like Skype. I think this can work very well.

And yeah Wealthy Affiliate can really help you with this.

Udemy is the other option and on that, you can offer different tutorials on different math subjects, each costing whatever you decide to price it as. You can make good money with this as well and grow a following.

Perhaps you can even “link” the 2 things and what I mean is this:

Consider that you have a niche site on math (a specific topic of it or to be honest, even the general math topic can work), then make Udemy classes and in your bio, link to your site or a social network fan page like on FB, have your students like the page to grow your personal business which can offer private tutoring sessions.

That’s how I would get this done.

  48. I have been looking for what to do with a facebook ad video I made. Now I know Udemy is where I can sell it. Thanks for putting my attention to that.

My first experience online was with Fiverr, writing articles and targeting SEO for people at $5 minimum. I made a good buck there before I decided to do all that work for me with Wealthy Affiliate.
